Before there was the likes of Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, there was Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi and Hema Malini. While I'm of the opinion that Kaif simply cannot dance, while I have enjoyed Chopra and Rai Bachchan's dance numbers, these three simply do not compare to the fabulous and classic icons known as Madhuri, Sridevi & Hema. These three amazing Bollywood beauties have served as my idols in dance. All three are poised, graceful and are quite expressive -- important features of any type of Indian dance. Although, since I am classical trained, my dance teacher would probably not approve of my desire to dance more like Madhuri & Sridevi since they are what she (and other Indian classical teachers) refers to as "filmi".
So I've been following Madhuri Dixit on Facebook. I have no shame in admitting that. In fact, I think I'm going to start following her on Twitter as well. Ok well maybe not, because the only reason I joined Twitter was just to start getting more readership on here, and I don't know if I really want to be wasting even more of my time playing around on Twitter.
ANYWAY....
So the amazing and beautiful Madhuri has been promoting her new website, Dance with Madhuri, which has dance tutorials of different dance styles such as salsa and hip hop, as well as dance tutorials for some of Madhuri's infamous dances like "Ek Do Teen" and "Aaja Naachle". She also has a dancercise video on there as well for those who are trying to stay fit. This is a great option for those of us who don't have the funds for a "Masala Bhangra" class or for those of us who can't make it to that 7 pm dance class because we've got Development Economics class.
So look out world...I'm going to be the next "Ek Do Teen" girl. Ok well maybe not, but I can pretend, can't I?
